Melody S. Boone is a mixed media artist with an interdisciplinary art practice, currently living and working in Suffolk, VA. She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in 2003 from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and her Masters of Fine Art in 2009 from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.

She has been featured in numerous local group exhibitions throughout the Hampton Roads area, in New York and in New Jersey.

Along with art making, Melody has worked with several professional artists, has participated in artist residencies and co-ops and has received artist fellowships and grants to assist in educational funding. She continues to cultivate relationships in the art field and is continually devoted to her art practice.

As her work continues to grow, she gains further knowledge about herself, her family history, and realizes her future artistic endeavors. Through her emersion in black and art history, she attempts to use her abstracted narratives and visual cues as a way to dispel notions of race as a label.
